Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Work with NBR’s President and Senior Vice President to identify, cultivate, and develop effective solicitation and stewardship strategies for current and prospective donors. Work with design and project staff to create and tailor fundraising materials. Plan and coordinate development-related special events.
• Organize and oversee NBR’s annual appeal and donor communications.
• Collaborate with NBR’s project directors to effectively integrate institutional development priorities into their work.
• Act as the primary non-executive staff liaison to the institution’s board of directors; participate in the planning of biannual board programs; manage the preparation and dissemination of supporting materials; provide any necessary administrative support to NBR’s board.
• In consultation with NBR’s Senior Vice President, develop departmental goals, objectives, and strategies. Supervise two full time staff members.
• Coordinate the private and public phases of an upcoming fundraising campaign.

Key responsibilities will include: staffing the campaigns’ volunteer leadership teams, developing and managing project budgets, overseeing contractors, preparing marketing materials, and event management.

Qualifications: The Assistant Director, Institutional Development must possess exceptional management skills and advanced fundraising, development, and marketing expertise. He/she must have excellent oral and written communication skills to capably and independently represent the Organization to external constituencies.

Immediate Internship Opening
Seattle, WA

Position Description: is recruiting an undergraduate- or graduate-level intern for a paid, part-time (approx. 20 hours per week) position supporting a range of NBR projects and activities in its Seattle office. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who can work well individually and as part of a team. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

Qualifications: At the time of application, applicants must be working towards an Asian Studies or related degree that builds substantive expertise on specific Asian countries and issues.

 Key responsibilities include:

• Project Assistance: drafting and proof-reading project descriptions, concept papers, etc.; helping maintain project documentation, web-pages, and filing systems
• Research Support: providing substantive research assistance for project teams and scholars; summarizing research papers; providing market research
• Publications Support: reviewing, fact-checking, proof-reading and formatting publications; assisting with publications distribution (including mailings), etc.
• Database Administration: maintaining and updating project databases; data entry and research for institutional and project databases
• Event Planning: providing administrative support to conferences, workshops, presentations, and briefings (drafting agendas; assisting with travel, accommodation, and venue arrangements; note-taking, etc.)
• Phone Support: along with other NBR interns and project associates, helping to answer incoming calls to the organization and handling them appropriately
• Participating in and supporting other NBR activities as needed
